Picking your size

Because it's a one-piece, take three measurements with a soft tape held level: bust at the fullest point, hips at the widest, and torso length. For the last one, start at the top of your shoulder, run the tape down over the bust to the crotch and back up the back to the same shoulder. A knit stretches over the body, but a torso that's much longer than average can pull on the straps. If you're near the top of the one-size range, the Queen is the safer bet.

Wearing it

Take off rings and check your nails first, since a sheer knit snags. Step in carefully, smooth it as you go, and tie the halter. Decide what you want under it, if anything, before you dress, because the sheer fabric hides very little.

Care

Follow the label. In general, hand wash nylon knits in cool water with mild detergent, rinse well, press the water out without wringing and dry flat away from heat. Keep it away from hooks and velcro, which pull threads. Fold it in a drawer or hang it loosely.

Pairing it

An ombré knit is all about the gradient, so keep the other pieces plain. A long robe, a plain pair of heels, or nothing at all works fine. Sheer means sheer, so decide up front if you want a layer underneath. If you do, a skin-tone or black piece that stays out of the way is easiest.
