Applying them

Adhesive grips best on skin that is clean and dry, so wash and dry the area first and leave out moisturizer, oil and powder. Peel the piece from its backing, line it up over the nipple, and smooth it down from the center to the edges. Take a moment to check that every edge is flat before you put your clothes on.

Taking them off

Go slowly. Hold the skin flat with one hand and peel from one edge with the other. If the adhesive resists, a little water or baby oil at the edge will loosen it. If your skin is sensitive, try a small test on your inner forearm before a long night, and stop wearing them if you notice irritation.

Finding the right placement

Look in a mirror and center the pasty over the nipple, then lift your arms and move a little to see how the edges behave. If you are wearing a design that has a shape, such as a heart, a star or a cross, check that it is straight and balanced on both sides. Small adjustments before you press down make a big difference.

Cleaning up afterward
