Turn the lights down, put a blacklight on, and these are the point. The Spider Web Nipztix from Neva Nude are blacklight reactive, so the web design is built to respond when the UV comes on. Under normal lighting you get a pair of pasties. Under a blacklight at a rave or a party, the web is what people look at.

Each pack has two pasties. They're self-adhering, so there's no clasp or strap: peel, place, press. The adhesive is hypoallergenic, latex-free and medical grade, and Neva Nude says a pair lasts 10 to 12 hours. They make them by hand in California, which means each pair is unique and may differ slightly from the image you see on the page.

The material is swimsuit fabric, locally sourced in Santa Monica. That's why the maker says you can wear them under a tank, with a daring dress, or even in place of a bikini top. It's a female-owned and operated company, and the product copy reads like it: loud, a little silly, and not shy about the point of the product, which is to dare to (almost) bare.

Picking your option

There's one design here, the spider web, and the question is where you'll wear it. If it's a blacklight event, great. If it's a regular room, you still have a web-pattern pasty. Think about the lighting where you're going before you buy, because the reaction depends on UV and won't happen under ordinary bulbs.

Putting them on

Adhesive pasties need clean, dry skin with no lotion, oil or powder on it. Wash and dry the area, press the pasty on from the center out, and smooth the edges flat. If you have sensitive skin or haven't used medical grade adhesive before, test a small patch on your forearm first.

Taking them off

Go slowly. Support the skin with one hand and peel with the other. A shower or a bit of warm water loosens the hold. Wash the area afterward and let it rest before you wear another pair.

Care and storage

Keep a spare pair if you go to a lot of events, and store the pair you're not using flat, away from dust and heat.

Wearing them out

Neva Nude lists raves and rendezvous, parties and poolsides, festivals and fashion emergencies, and that covers most of the ground. A few practical thoughts on top of that. Put them on at home, not in a bathroom stall, so you can check they're sitting evenly. Keep a mirror handy for the final press. And if you're headed somewhere hot and crowded, apply them a little ahead of time so the adhesive has settled before you start sweating.

Under a blacklight, check your outfit as well. Some fabrics glow too, and you may want the pasties to be the only thing that does.

How we ship it

We don't print anything on the outside of the box, so the spider webs stay a secret until you're in the dark with a blacklight.
