Pastease Rainbow Pineapple Sparkling Pasties

Flip them upside down and they say something else. That's the gag with these Rainbow Pineapple pasties from Pastease. Right side up, they're sparkling disco pineapples for a beach party. Upside down, they're a playful wink to swinger enthusiasts, which the maker points out cheerfully. You get to decide which message you're sending.

They measure 2.2 inches by 4 inches, with coverage of 2.1 inches. The shape is taller than most pasties, so the pineapple has room for its leaves, which is why the design reads as a pineapple from across a room. The surface is a sparkling disco material in rainbow colors, and it catches the light when you move. The adhesive is skin-safe and meant to hold through dancing, swimming or lounging.

Wear them to a tropical party, a festival, or a private celebration. The rainbow works with a lot of swimwear, a sheer coverup, or just a pair of shorts and a good attitude. They're loud, a little silly, and not trying to be anything else. If you like pasties that make people smile before they work out what they're looking at, these are a good one.

Think about what the rest of the outfit is saying, because pineapples are a loud accessory. A solid-color bikini bottom, a pair of white shorts, or a sheer wrap keeps the focus on the sparkle. If you're heading somewhere with a dress code, check it first. If you're heading somewhere with no dress code at all, you've picked the right pair.

They also work as a conversation piece, which is half the point. Wear them to a pool party with friends who will get the joke, or to a night where you want people to notice. The sparkle keeps them from looking like a plain novelty.

Picking your option

There's one design, so choosing comes down to size. The pineapple is 4 inches tall and 2.2 inches wide, with 2.1 inches of coverage. That is a taller shape than a plain round pasty, so check how it will sit on your chest and under your outfit. Decide up front which way the pineapples will point, since that's the whole joke. Also think about the rest of your look: a plain swimsuit bottom or a solid color lets the rainbow stand out.

Care

Wash and dry the area first. Lotion, oil and sunscreen make skin slick, which loosens the hold. Press from the center outward, and give the pineapple's leaves a second press so the tips don't lift. Remove slowly, supporting your skin, and use warm water on any stubborn spot. Store them flat in their packaging, away from heat, and don't scrub the sparkle. If one pineapple tip lifts during the night, press it back down with a dry finger and keep going.
