Prowler Mesh Open Brief

Mesh briefs with the back cut out, and there's no hiding what they're for. The Prowler Mesh Open Brief is made of black sheer nylon mesh and worn like typical briefs, but the back is open and framed with form-enhancing bands. Prowler says the bands contour the booty, and the open back hugs and lifts the rear.

The front does its own work. It's structured, so it shapes the package, and the sheer mesh lets the skin show through with a shadow that adds a flattering silhouette. Put plainly, the front is on display, and the back is the other half of the idea.

It comes in S, M, L and XL, with a waist-based chart. Put them on like any pair of briefs, and check that the bands lie flat and the front sits where you want it. Sheer mesh shows everything, so think about the lighting and the occasion.

Picking your size

The chart goes by waist. Measure at the point where you'll wear the waistband, with a soft tape held level and snug. Match your number to a range, and note that they overlap, so a 33 in. waist fits both Medium and Large. For a structured front and bands that contour, a snug fit is the aim, but not a tight one. If you're between sizes, we'd go up if you want comfort for a long evening, and down if you want the bands to grip and lift.

Wearing it

The bands and open back are the interesting part, so check them in a mirror after you've put the brief on. Sit down, bend over and walk around once to see whether anything shifts. Mesh can catch on rings and nails, so be gentle when you pull the brief up.

Care

Read the tag on the brief before you wash. If you're not sure, hand wash nylon mesh in cool water with a mild detergent, rinse well and press the water out without wringing. Lay it flat or hang it to dry, away from high heat. In a machine, use a mesh bag on a gentle cycle and keep it away from hooks and zips. No bleach and no fabric softener. Wash it before the first wear.

What to wear it with

Black mesh goes with most things. Pair the briefs with a harness, a pair of boots or a robe, or wear them on their own under dim light. Because the mesh is sheer, think about the fabric you'll put over them. Thin pants will show the mesh, and darker or heavier fabrics will hide it.
