Is it the right plug for you

The girth is the number to think about. At 1.7 in., it's meant for someone who has worked up to it, and if you're new to plugs, you'd be better served by something smaller to start. Textured plugs also feel different from smooth ones, because the diamonds create more friction. That's the point, and it asks for more lube and a slower pace.

Using it

Use a lot of lube on the plug and on yourself. Water-based is the safest default, and silicone lube is a poor match for some materials, so stick with water-based unless you've tested it. Insert slowly, stop if anything hurts and never force it. The flared base should always stay outside. Don't use it if you've had a recent injury or if you feel unwell, and talk to your doctor if you have any concerns.

Care

Wash it before and after every use with warm water and mild soap, and get into the grooves of the texture with your fingers or a soft cloth. Rinse well and dry it with a clean towel. A condom over the plug makes cleanup easier and is a good idea if you share it. Store it on its own, away from heat.

Working up to it

If you're building toward a plug this size, take it in steps. Smaller plugs first, then a textured one when you're comfortable. Warm up with fingers or a smaller toy before the Diamond. There's no prize for rushing, and the texture rewards patience.

For couples, the plug can be part of foreplay, with one partner placing it and the other setting the pace. Agree on a stop word beforehand. Everything here is easier when both people know the plan.
