Size: 32 in

These are the staple leather jeans, and the cut is simple. A 501 cut in soft leather. Two deep pockets sit at the front, a double snap button keeps the waist closed, and a zip fly saves you from button mishaps. They're black, high-waisted, and they come in waist sizes 32, 33, 34, 35, 36 and 38.

There are no pockets on the back. That's on purpose. Without them, the jeans show how they fit around your backside. The waist is higher than a standard cut, which stops them from sliding down, though we'd still wear a belt. The legs are finished to a 36 inseam.

Leather jeans reward a good fit. They'll stretch a little with wear and shape to you, so don't buy a size that's too loose. The best fit is snug enough that they stay up, and loose enough that you can sit down and move.

Choosing your size

Measure your waist where you'd wear the jeans. Because they are high-waisted, measure a little above your hip bones, level and snug. Compare it with the waist size you're considering. If you're between sizes, think about how you move: leather is stiff when it's new, so a pair that's a bit tight will soften up but one that's too loose won't tighten.

The leg is finished to a 36. If you're shorter, the hem will pool or need tailoring. A tailor or a leather specialist can shorten them.

Wearing them

Wear a belt, even though the high waist helps. The weight of leather pulls at the waist. A pair of boots goes well with the cut. Put them on slowly the first time, and zip the fly before you fasten the snaps.

Care

Leather isn't machine washable. Wipe it with a damp cloth, let it air dry away from heat, and treat it with a leather conditioner a few times a year. Hang the jeans or fold them loosely. If they get soaked, blot them and let them dry slowly.

A word on breaking them in

New leather is stiff and takes a few wears to soften. The crotch and the knees loosen first. If they feel tight at first, give them a few evenings before you decide. If they feel loose, they will only get looser.

A 36 inch leg is long, so check where the hem lands when you wear boots.

What goes with them

A tee, a harness, a vest or a bare chest. Boots are the obvious partner. A belt with a good buckle finishes the look.

How we ship it

The jeans fold into a plain, unmarked box, and nothing on the outside tells anyone what's in it.
